Disaster Year: 800 villagers, 'women, workmen, and peasants, stiffened with out-of-work fishermen from Schiedam and Delftshaven' occupied Delft city hall from June 29 until July 5 when the Delft regents set aside the Perpetual Edict and Holland appointed Willem III stadtholder.
