The original manuscript on one quarto page, written and signed by Leeuwenhoek, is preserved at the Royal Society (MS. 18##. Early Letters L1.59).
Leeuwenhoek wrote this short cover letter to Robert Hooke for Letter L-108 to Thomas Gale, dated the same day, June 14.
My last letter to you was dated May 13th and enclosed a missive addressed to the Honourable Royal Society in which I gave expression to my humble thankfulness for the great honour conferred upon me, besides a letter to your colleague, Mr. Th. Gale, containing a sequel to my previous observations. In compliance to your request I enclose some observations addressed to the aforesaid gentleman. I hope you will like them. Please give my thankful greetings to the Philosophers.
