Act of Abjuration proclaimed independence of the new Dutch Republic

The Act of Abjuration proclaimed independence, making Delft, as the home of Willem I, Prince of Orange, the de facto capital of the new Republic. The consequences for Delft were enormous, and included strengthened walls and gates.
