Acknowledgment of the receipt of Letter L-293 of 8 July 1696 from Magliabechi. Leeuwenhoek inquires about the reaction of the grand duke to his works, mentioned in Letter L-286 of 8 March 1696. He thanks M. for sending him printed matter and book news from Italy.

He does not mention Magliabechi's Letter L-290 of 5 June, which he apparently had not received by 28 August 1696. He did acknowledge Letter L-290 in Letter L-303 of 7 September 1696.
