great great-grandfather Jan Jacobs Hogenhouck bought land in Rijswijk

In 1559, Leeuwenhoek's 20-year-old great great-grandfather Jan Jacobs Hogenhouck bought land in Rijswijk four miles north of Delft that had a house on it. His grandson Ewout van der Dussen built a manor house on the property in 1623 and named it Overvoorde. It still stands today in the midst of a large park.
