The original manuscript on fsix quarto pages, written and signed by Leeuwenhoek, is preserved in London in the British Museum's Sloane Collection (f. 220-226). It was accompanied by drawings that are lost.
Leeuwenhoek's summary Leeuwenhoek did not include the letters from 1702-04-28 (AB 237) through 1712-06-10 (AB 294) among his self-published and thus self-numbered letters. Those with scientific observations were all addressed to members of the Royal Society and almost all of them were excerpted in Philosophical Transactions .
Reception in London The letter was read in the meeting of the Royal Society of April 19, 1710, O.S. (Royal Society, Journal Book Original, vol. 11, p. 188).
A practically complete English translation of the letter was pubished in Philosophical Transactions no. 324 for November and December 1709, pp. 479-484 with four figures. The manuscript for that translation on six folio pages is preserved in London at the Royal Society (MS 2086, L.4.35).
