The original manuscript on eight quarto pages, written and signed by Leeuwenhoek, is preserved at the Royal Society (MS. 2075. L 4. 24). It was accompanied by four figures, the original drawings of which are lost.
Leeuwenhoek's summary Leeuwenhoek did not include the letters from 1702-04-28 (AB 237) through 1712-06-10 (AB 294) among his self-published and thus self-numbered letters. Those with scientific observations were all addressed to members of the Royal Society and almost all of them were excerpted in Philosophical Transactions .
Reception in London The letter was read in the meeting of the Royal Society of December 8, 1708 0.S. (Royal Society, Journal Book Original , vol. II, p. 155).
They published almost the whole letter in Philosophical Transactions no. 320 for March and April 1709, pp. 294-301 with four figures.
The original English translation on eight folio pages is preserved at the Royal Society (MS. 2076. L 4. 25).
