The circumference of a small piece of buckwheat, after it has been stripped of its hard coat, and of a thin, as it were, second membrane or coat, cut off at its pointed part (where the beginning of the Root lies): N.O.P. shows a crosswise cut-through piece of the lower part of the leaf, so far as it lies, at that point, against its second or inner membrane which enwraps the buckwheat, which part of the leaf has been indicated in the preceding figure 11. by L or H.

De circumferentie van een stukje boekweijt, na dat het van desselfs harde schors, en een dunne als tweede membrane off omwinsel was ontbloot, en aen sijn punctagtige deel (daer het begin vande Wortel leijt) afgesneden: N.O.P. [ver]toont een overdwars gesneden stukje van het onderste deel van het bladt, soo verre het op die plaets tegen sijn tweede off binnenste membrane, die om de boekweijt is aenleijt, welck gedeelte van het blad inde voorgaende figuur 11. met L of H. wert aengewesen.
