Count Willem IV granted Delft the right to choose its own city secretary

A month after Count Willem IV granted Delft a variety of rights over its own commercial affairs, he granted the right to choose its own "schrijfambacht", literally, writing trade. The office of city secretary dates itself from this time. Perhaps this was an afterthought to complete the package of rights granted in November.
