Benedict Haan and Henry Cordes wrote to the Royal Society attesting to the number of little animals in Leeuwenhoek's infusions

Benedict Haan and Henry Cordes, Lutheran pastors in nearby den Haag, wrote in Latin to the Royal Society attesting to having seen 10,000 microbes in one drop of Leeuwenhoek's pepper infusion.

We saw at least 200 living creatures in this 50th part of water; little animals which moved and swam in the water.
