Oldenburg received the letter when it was October 26 in London (November 5 in Delft). He replied on November 2 (November 12 in Delft), which means that it took six days to get to him and another week for him to reply that he would write at greater length as soon as possible (assuming "au plustost" = au plus tôt).
Oldenburg’s previous letter to Leeuwenhoek is Letter L-042 of 26 October 1676. Before Leeuwenhoek received it, he wrote Letter L-043 of 30 October 1676. L. replied to the present letter with the lost Letter L-047 of 27 November 1676. Oldenburg’s next letter is Letter L-052 of 22 February 1677.
This letter is calendared as Letter 3004 in Hall and Hall, The Correspondence of Henry Oldenburg, vol. XIII, July 1676 – July 1681, p. 130.
