The STCN lists Cornelis Boutesteyn as a printer from 1679-1712 and a bookseller from 1685-1704 with a shop on the Rapenburg (now #60), across from the the university's Academie building. Leiden city records also note that Boutesteyn and his wife Jannetgen Christiaensz owned other property on the Rapenburg and the Steenschuur upstream on the same gracht.

Between 1685 and 1708, Boutesteyn and after 1704 his widow printed and sold two dozen first editions and reprints of Leeuwenhoek's letters in both Dutch and Latin.
